The Journey

Posted: July 29, 2014 in Switzerland

It is very apt that the first tweetheart I met in real life is also the first person whom I’ve been interacting with almost exactly one year before starting the journey to meet her. This journey led me to Béatrice, Switzerland, Bastian Baker, 30 Seconds to Mars, Nyon, Bern, Zurich, the Rhine Falls and my personal DDLJ moment.

I’ll spare you the not very exciting train trips to and from Switzerland, except for mentioning the fact that the Swiss trains and ticket collectors are the clear winners! 😉

After a long night I finally arrived at Nyon, where Béatrice and I were going to visit Paléo 2014, one of the biggest Swiss music and art festivals. Our performances of choice were Bastian Baker, a wonderful Swiss singer/songwriter, and 30 Seconds to Mars, the band of Jared Leto, his brother Shannon and Tomislav ‘Tomo’ Miličević. We can now proudly say we’re rock festival proof, since it was perfectly muddy at the venue.

But before that, we explored Nyon, a beautiful little city at Lake Leman and went to occupy our room at Château de Bossey, which is located outside Crans-près-Céligny. During this endeavour I learned that a 10 minute walk actually means a 30 minute walk, which seems like a little eternity when you have to carry all your luggage with you! Needless to say we took a cab to the rail station the next day…
